Here we have a sealed copy of the classic Metal Gear Solid 3 – Snake Eater, however this is the re-released version from 2011.
As this release is fairly recent it should be relatively easy to find on ebay, and can be picked up for around £10.

Here we have the promo discs of the enhanced version of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (titled Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence).
Not only is there an updated version of the original game but also the inclusion of the two classics MSX games Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, for the first time translated into English. The three discs are titled up “Subsistence”, “Persistence” and “Existence”, with the “Existence” disc including new re-cut cinematic scenes.
This particular promo doesn’t appear too often on ebay, so expect to pay in the region of £50 when it does. Also make sure in comes with the very small instruction sheet, as this is not always present.
This is a silver “Metal Gear Solid” branded PlayStation 1 memory card, and was a pre-order bonus for anyone who bought the game from Woolworths.
The card, produced by Joytech, and comes in a CD style case with front and back insert.
This is not particular rare as about 25,000 were produced, however expect to pay up to £10 for the card alone and up to £20 if you can find one in its own case.
I bought this off ebay for £10, which is pretty good considering the condition it is in.
This is the Platinum release of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, which you would think isn’t a particular rare version of the game. However you would be surprised on how few occasions this would turn up on ebay.
When it does quite often it contains the original disc and not the platinum disc. I have no idea why this would be but I finally manage to track one down for about £3. If you do find one I would imagine you should be able to secure it for a similar price.
This is the steelbook version of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, official titled Limited Metal Edition. This version of the game is not particularly common, possibly because there is no difference between this and the original release apart for the metal case.
Also it retailed at £59.99 when released back in 2005 so I would guess sales weren’t particularly high. This can be picked up easily enough of ebay, but expect to pay £20 or more for a copy. As with all steelbook editions the condition can vary, so be on the lookout for any dents or chips in the paintwork.
This is the promo disc version of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and comes in a slim clear CD case containing a proper insert.
This is another Metal Gear Solid promo I have been after for my Metal Gear Solid collection for a while now and was very pleased to snap one up from ebay for just over £20.
However, expect to around £40 and upwards for a copy, as most of these on ebay tend to be on “buy it now” listings.
Here we have the enhanced version of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty which was titled Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance. This however is a sealed copy of the re-released version from 2011 and contains just the one disc, as there is no “The Document of Metal Gear Solid” disc included.

Here with have Metal Gear Solid 3 for the PlayStation 2 including a limited edition cardboard slipcase in great condition.
This is just the original retail version with the slipcase being an HMV pre-order exclusive. The slipcase was also available at certain signing events attended by Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa, and these tended to be at HMV’s flagship stores in London.
I bought this of ebay, along with a collection of other Metal Gear Solid games for a total of £21, which worked out at just over £4 per game. Expect to pay about £10 for a copy, but do make sure the cardboard slipcase is in a decent condition.

Prices on ebay for this game do vary quite a lot but have come down from the £80 peak of a few years ago, however you should be able to pick this up for somewhere between £20 to £40 depending on condition, and it is well worth the money. The box this game comes in is not the standard PS2 box, but a wider one that can accommodate the three discs and manual. These boxes are not that robust and the retaining clips that hold the manual in place can tend to snap off, so be careful when hunting down this game.
