Silent Hill 2 – with stickers

Posted in Playstation 2 with tags on October 27, 2013 by drewturpin

Silent Hill 2 was the excellent sequel to Silent Hill and was the first of the series on the Playstation 2 in 2001.

Silent Hill 2 (1)

This original release comes in gatefold sleeve held inside a cardboard slipcase. Included along with the game disc is a bonus disc that includes a “making of”, trailers, game artwork and documentary. Silent Hill 2 (2) Silent Hill 2 (3) Each game came with one of four different stickers and all four are on display here. Silent Hill 2 Sticker (5) The game is a must play if you are into survival horror, and is considered to be one of the best in the franchise. This original release of the game can be picked up for between £5 and £10, depending on the condition of the cardboard slipcase and internal sleeve. However expect a lot more searching if you want to track down all four of the collectable stickers. Silent Hill 2 Sticker (1) Silent Hill 2 Sticker (2) Silent Hill 2 Sticker (3) Silent Hill 2 Sticker (4) The Platinum release of this game in 2003 was titled the “Director’s Cut”, and contained a new scenario to play, new weapons, a new area to explore and an additional ending. This release did not contain any bonus disc unfortunately.

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain – Promo Disc

I already own a copy of the original commercial release of Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, and I would highly recommend this first game of the franchise to any fan of RPGs.

Blood Omen LoK Promo

This rare promo disc, in a near mint condition, was an ebay “buy it now” purchase for £12.  I have not seen another copy in recent years so I wouldn’t know what a fair price for this disc would be, however I would expect an amount around the £20 mark would be about right.

Sinclair Programs – Issue 1

Posted in Books & Magazines, ZX Spectrum on October 11, 2013 by drewturpin

This is the very first edition of Sinclair Programs magazine which was first published in May 1982 by ECC Publications Ltd, who also published Sinclair User and Sinclair Projects. The magazine was originally released bi-monthly, but due to its’ popularity went monthly from issue 7 (May 1983). The magazine contained “type-in” programs for the ZX80, ZX81 and ZX Spectrum computers, and although most listing were for games there was also the odd utility program included. The magazine ran for 35 issues with the last one published in September 1985, which was probably due to the introduction of budget software making buying games more affordable.

Sinclair Programs

I picked up this copy from a dedicated magazine website for £8 which I was pretty happy with, as it rarely appears on ebay. Because of this pricing of this magazine is difficult, but that said it is not obvious for the front cover that this is the very first issue, so you may be able to pick one up cheaply. Also because of the age of the magazine the condition can vary, so I would always check the overall state of the magazine (e.g. missing pages, rips, tears, writing etc).

Silent Hill – Original Soundtrack

Posted in Miscellaneous, PC, Playstation 1 on October 6, 2013 by drewturpin

This is the official game soundtrack on CD which was originally released in 1999. The disc contains 42 tracks of ambient music from the first game in the franchise.

Silent Hill Soundtrack (1)

The music, created by Akira Yamaoka, has been recognised for producing a creepy, unnerving accompaniment to the game that added greatly to the overall play experience. The CD can be a little difficult to track down, but expect to pay about £5 if you are lucky to find one.
