Jet Set Willy – Sealed

Posted in Commodore 64 on May 9, 2016 by drewturpin

Here we have a copy of the ground-breaking platformer Jet Set Willy for the Commodore 64, which was released in 1984 by Software Projects.

JSW C64 (sealed) 1

This was the sequel to Manic Miner with the coding being converted by Shahid Ahmad and the music by George Neophytou.

JSW C64 (sealed) 2

Until recently I have never seen a sealed version of this game, complete with “Software Projects” tear strip. So when one appeared on ebay I had to make sure I got it, which I did for only £9. Over the years I have seen a few sealed copy of Jet Set Willy for the ZX Spectrum, however I feel this is far rarer which makes it difficult to put a value on it.

Centipede – Sealed

Atari’s classic shooter Centipede on the Commodore 64 was a decent enough conversion for the machine back in 1983.

This cartridge version of the game is new and sealed, making it more collectible. However a few of these are still available on ebay, but expect to pay £15 and upwards to get one.

The Last Ninja 2 – Limited Edition

Posted in Commodore 64 on May 10, 2013 by drewturpin

The Commodore 64 version of The Last Ninja 2 is a fantastic game which was very well received back in the day, and sold many copies. So what makes this version so special… well it’s not some much the game itself, which can be pick up with relative ease nowadays.

It is more about the extra goodies that come in the box along with the game. Included in this nice little package are an “Avengers 3D map”, “Avengers Handbook”, “Shiraken Star” and “Ninjitsu Fighting Mask”.

Last Ninja 2 (2)

As you can imagine there was a bit on controversy around this throwing star (which is made of a thick rubbery plastic) and to some degree the mask. Kids took them into school to show off their ninja skills with caused a bit of upset amongst the teachers and parents. Very quickly this extra content was removed from future releases so finding a complete version of this game package is very hard.

It’s been a while since I have seen a complete version on sale, so it is difficult to put a price on this item, however do expect to pay upwards of £20 for one in decent condition.
