Unbelievable Ultimate 1 & 2

Posted in ZX Spectrum on March 9, 2014 by drewturpin

Here we have two compilation tapes for the ZX Spectrum released in 1987, both contain four “Ultimate Play the Games” games. The first compilation includes the early classics Jetpac, Tranz Am, Pssst and Lunar Jetman. Whilst the second compilation contains the early classic Atic Atac and the later masterpieces of Sabre Wulf, Alien 8 and Underwurlde that formed part of Ultimate’s big box releases.

Unbelievable Ultimate (1)

These two compilations were released by US Gold, who had recently taken over Ultimate Play the Game, under their “Master Games” series.  Releasing compilations of some of the Ultimate back catalogue was one way of recouping some of the cost of this takeover. Versions were also released for the Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC, BBC and MSX, although the Ultimate games on each compilation did vary from system to system.

Unbelievable Ultimate (2)

These are not seen that often nowadays and I’ve no idea how well they sold back in the day. However I suspect that most ZX Spectrum owners would have a few of these games in their collection already, so wouldn’t have expected they sold in great numbers.  These are seen very rarely on ebay but expect to pay £10 or more for each of these if you can track them down.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance – Sealed

Posted in Playstation 2 with tags , on March 1, 2014 by drewturpin

Here we have the enhanced version of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty which was titled Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance.  This however is a sealed copy of the re-released version from 2011 and contains just the one disc, as there is no “The Document of Metal Gear Solid” disc included.

As this release is fairly recent it should be relatively easy to find on ebay, and can be picked up for around £10.
