Shining Force CD

Posted in Sega Mega Drive/Mega CD on August 17, 2012 by drewturpin

One of the few sought are Sega Mega CD games, which is mainly due to it being part of the Shining Force franchise. This is a great little package as it contains four separate scenarios or books as they are called.

This was bought from new back in the late 90’s and is still in mint condition, from memory I paid about £10 for it however expect to pay over £60 for one in a decent condition.

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain

Posted in Playstation 1 on August 17, 2012 by drewturpin

This has become a little bit of a cult classic for the Playstation 1, being the first in the Legacy of Kain series. The game is essentially an RPG, but with the main protagonist (Kain) being a vampire, murdered and out for revenge against those that have wronged him. As you would expect, being a vampire, sunlight damages your health whilst sucking the blood of innocent passers by and townsfolk increases it.

Overall this is a game well worth playing if you are into you RPGs. I managed to pick this up for under £10, but expect to pay around the £20 mark for a good conditioned copy. I have also been fortunate enough to pick up the Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain promo disc.

The Software Toolworks’ Star Wars Chess

Posted in Sega Mega Drive/Mega CD on August 17, 2012 by drewturpin

The rare and collectable Star Wars Chess for the Mega CD, at heart it is just your average chess game but the Star wars connection does make it more interesting. Included are animated battles when pieces are “taken”, and a lot of fun can be had by trying the different combination of battles.

I picked this game up brand new in the mid 90’s for £5, but expect to pay between £20 to £30 on ebay for one in as good as condition as this one.

Clock Tower

Posted in Playstation 1 on August 9, 2012 by drewturpin

This is a much sought after game for the Playstation 1 and is confusingly the sequel to Clock Tower. This is due to the original game (Clock Tower – The First Fear) being Japanese only release so this sequel was known a Clock Tower 2 – The Struggle Within in Japan. The game is from the survival horror genre but concentrates more on hiding/escaping rather than shooting/killing your way to the end. It also introduced gamers to the iconic Scissorman (who also appeared on the front cover of the game case) as the only villain who throughout the game stalks the player.

I picked up a mint copy of the game at a bootsale for £3 which is an absolute bargain, expect to pay at least £20 for a decent conditioned copy off ebay.

Gran Turismo 4 – Press Launch Pack

Posted in Playstation 2 on August 3, 2012 by drewturpin

This is one of the limited number of Gran Turismo 4 “Press Launch Pack” that was given out in 2005.

Each box has an engraved metal plaque showing the issue number, and in this case mine is 508 of 4000.

Included within this box is:

  • Press disc
  • Test drive disc
  • Passport holder
  • 2005 desk calendar
  • A Gran Turismo 4 coffee table book.
  • Certificate of authenticity.

I was fortunate enough to pick this up for £20, however expect to pay in the region of £80 to £100 for this on ebay  (postage on top of this will be expensive due to both the size and weight). I was particularly pleased with the relatively low issue number of this item, as the few I have seen on ebay tend to be much higher.
