My aim for starting this blog is to catalogue my retro games collection (hence the name), showing off some of the more unusual items I have collected over many years, providing a bit of background information behind them as well as high resolution photos. I will not just be restricting myself to games, I will be including consoles, gaming merchandise, magazines and peripherals.

  1. Hi there
    you have an interesting collection
I’ve started collecting promo versions of games myself, specifically Sqauresoft/Square-Enix games, in fact I just about collect anything Squaresoft/Enix orientated, most recent perchase was the Hori Tiny Bee gun controllers at a fantastic price of £31 with £16 p&P ^_^
Was wondering if you had much more in the line of Squaresoft/Enix/Square-Enix, would love to compare collections and such
PS: good job on your blog, think I need to start sumt like this

    • Thank you for your message,

I have a wide range of games and merchandise but as for anything from Square Enix that would mainly be from the Final Fantasy games I collect. Type Final Fantasy in the search box on my blog and it will bring up the items that I have uploaded so far. You will also see promos for Vagrant Story and Parasite Eve 2 as well as Final Fantasy 7. I still have a few more bits to put up including some Final Fantasy Playstation 2 promo discs, as well as playing guides for a number of the games. The most interesting item I have is the Final Fantasy 7 rental discs, as I have never seen another copy of these in over 10 years of collecting. I am still trying to find out more about this release, but the only relevant information that comes up on an internet search is from my blog.

      • Yea your rental copy of FF7 did impress me, I’ve seen it once on ebay but I don’t recall it having a cover
I’m very intreagued to see the info on the back of the case
From my collection I have Final Fantasy 4,5,6,7,8,10,10-2,12,13
all as promos, 9 I have as white preview discs
I’ve seen a white copy of Vagrant Story, oh and my copy of Parasite Eve has a cover (the kind that fits into a those narrow “single” cases)
I’ll be uploading my promo images and such to my tumbler account if you’re interedsted in comparing

      • I’ve been after review (white disc) versions of PS1 games but have only managed to find “Barbie Race and Ride”… which is a little embarrassing.
I do have all the Final Fantasy commercial PAL releases for the Playstation (Anthology, Origins, 6, 7, 8, 9… both black disc and Platinum versions, all in mint condition). I also have promos for 10, 10-2 and 12 for the Playstation 2.
I’m also am a big collector of the Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid franchises.

I started the blog just over a year ago, and WordPress was recommended to me, it’s easy to use and free.

Let us know when you get some picture up as I would be interested in looking at some of those discs, especially the white disc version of FF9.

  2. I have a mate on eBay who will be selling his English white disc version of FF9
If I remember correctly the disc reads “Ver 0.1 Eng” comes with 4 white discs, I’ll let you know when he puts it on
He used to work for Sony so he’s given me a nice amount of info on promo/review/preview copies, he’s basically clearing out his loft of the games he’s collected from working there over the years, as he’s no longer with Sony he’s apparently allowed to sell what he’s collected
btw to save clogging up your about section with our conversation you’re welcome to add me on facebook

  3. I just stumbled upon your website by chance (nice collection!) and see you acquired quite a few PlayStation promo’s .

If you’re looking to extent your collection feel free to check out my sales topic, seeing that I got a lot of PS2 promotional discs for sale; http://bit.ly/1RQFz4A 🙂
